Billie Jean’s journey in the field began after she graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a minor in Marketing. Her early career saw her covering political news in Washington, D.C., and later breaking significant stories as an Assignment Desk Editor and Digital Journalist at the FOX affiliate in Charlotte, NC. One of her most notable contributions was her coverage of the historic Civil Rights case of the “Friendship Nine,” which led to the overturning of 54-year-old convictions and captured national attention.

Throughout her tenure in Charlotte, Billie Jean showcased her versatility and journalistic prowess by taking on multiple roles, including morning reporter, general assignment reporter, and fill-in anchor.
