Orthodontist, Mentor and Philanthropist

Dr. Heather Brown is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Meharry Medical College and her specialist certificate in Orthodontics at Howard University where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class. Considered one of Houston’s most astonishing orthodontists, Brown’s outstanding achievements have been recognized across the nation. As a leading woman in business, Brown was featured in the December 2018 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine and Entrepreneur Magazine.

Brown is not your typical orthodontist. This multi-faceted mother and woman of God has a heart of gold and uses her platform to be a beacon of light for others. She states her crowning philanthropic achievement was when she founded the Houston Chapter of Smile For A Lifetime Foundation, a national non-profit charitable organization that provides free orthodontic services to underserved children from economically challenged homes. Brown’s chapter has donated over a quarter of a million dollars in services since its inception in 2012.

Brown activated her strong passion for mentoring when she created a structured hands-on internship program in her office for high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in dentistry. Her internship program has already begun to see the fruits of her labor, as former participants are being accepted into and graduating from dental schools across the nation. Outside of transforming smiles, Brown works tirelessly to give back to the community. In 2017, when Houston was hit by the devastating Hurricane Harvey, Brown started a Houston Strong t-shirt and cap campaign to raise funds for families who were displaced or lost their homes. To promote breast cancer awareness, Brown founded the Women’s Wellness and Fitness Day. Her efforts raised funds for local breast cancer organizations and garnished her a proclamation from the State of Texas. She is also an avid advocate who supports and promotes autism awareness.

For her continued outstanding philanthropic work, Brown received the Community Angel Award from Houston Woman Magazine. She has been recognized by the Houstonia Magazine as one of 10 Houston Women “Making It Happen” and was featured on the cover story of Living Magazine. She is a past recipient of the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston Phenomenal Woman of The Year Award and has been named one of the 25 Most Beautiful Houstonians by HTexas Magazine. Brown received the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award and has been lauded as one of The Top 30 Most Influential Women of Houston. Brown’s exceptional clinical skills have landed her in the top percent of Invisalign Practitioners in the United States and her clinical treatments have been featured nationwide as cover stories in Orthotown and Orthodontic Products Magazines.

Brown remains active in several professional organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the American Association of Orthodontists.

She enjoys shopping, exercising and traveling, but what brings her the most joy is being a mom to her two handsome sons Jaxon and Jace.
